Bob comes from so far away, we will have a combined service with St. Thomas Episcopal Church from Alamosa at St. Stephen’s at 3:00 p.m. preceded by a Carol Sing-Along at 2:30 p.m. Fr. Bob will then go to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Creede for their 5:00 p.m. service.

THERE WILL NOT BE A CHRISTMAS DAY SERVICE. Enjoy your families on Christmas Day!

Happy Autumn!

This year has gone by FAST. We applied for and received a grant from the South-Western Region that funded a restoration project on our historic building. The 100+ year old cross on the roof had been crumbling and dropping pieces, there had been water getting in and under the foundation, and our front door needed reworking. All those projects and more were done between August and the final pieces will be finished by the end of October. We also discovered that our cornerstone had never been carved and dedicated. We are looking into doing that and having a dedication/celebration service and reception sometime in June 2017 when our summer people are back in the Valley.

Upcoming dates: November 27th will begin our Advent study (materials to be determined soon.) Christmas Eve Service will be Dec. 24th 3:00 p.m. We will invite St. Thomas Episcopal Church to join us. All are welcome to join us. There will not be a Christmas Day service (even though it is a Sunday.) The next Bishops Committee meeting will be the third Sunday in January following the service.

Dear Elizabeth and God’s people of St Stephen’s. I am deeply touched that you have chosen my book Light to the Darkness for your Lessons and Carols celebration. May this be an occasion when you hear the biblical stories as for the first time and may you be blessed with the epiphany, the recognition of the Incarnation. I wish I could be with you. Katerina

Thanks, Katerina! We are having a great time organizing this event. The Ecumenical Community has responded overwhelmingly to this Advent service. ~Missi Stone, Lay Pastoral Leader.

      Dear Katerina,
Today I handed out parts for the dramatic monologues so that folk could read through them and then next week we will have our first “read-through”, we also had our first advent study group using words of promise from Part 1. We had a very good and lively discussion about Sarah and Hagar. I will be sending you a copy of the service outline as soon as I have completed it. I keep reading different parts of the book and discovering something new every time.
